CVD — Cumulative Volume Delta

Every market trade has an aggressor: a buyer lifting the offer or a seller hitting the bid. CVD accumulates the difference. It answers the only question that moves price — who is more aggressive right now — and these five patterns are how that answer shows up on the chart.

CVD-01

Trend confirmation

Price prints higher highs and CVD prints them too. The move is fueled by real market buying — pullbacks are for joining, not fading.

Invalidated when CVD flattens while price keeps rising.

CVD-02

Absorption top

Aggressive buying keeps pouring in but price stalls under a level: passive sellers are absorbing everything. Buyer exhaustion, not strength.

Invalidated when price breaks and holds above the level.

CVD-03

Bearish divergence (div−)

Price makes a new high, CVD does not: the push came from a thin book, not real buying. The div− arrow on the live chart marks exactly this.

Invalidated when CVD reclaims its prior high.

CVD-04

Bullish divergence (div+)

Price makes a new low but CVD holds higher: sellers pressed and got nothing for it. The div+ arrow marks the spot — look for a level to lean on.

Invalidated when CVD breaks below its prior low.

CVD-05

Exchange split

Binance and Bybit CVD point in opposite directions: one crowd is offside. Weight the exchange with dominant volume and expect the other side to chase.

Invalidated when the lines re-converge without a price move.
